She began her ministry as an elementary school music teacher in 1949: first in Spokane (St. Sister Pat’s love for music and keen musical ability served as the basis for much of Sister Pat’s ministry. Sister Pat professed her first vows in 1947. She later went back to her baptismal name. At entrance into the novitiate, she received the name Sister Alicita. The following year she entered the community. Rose Convent one weekend, Sister Pat told her parents she wanted to stay at the convent with her sister. Her older sister Eileen joined the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in 1943. She also participated in her parish choir. In the eighth grade, Sister Pat started playing trumpet in the high school band and later moved on to playing the trombone and baritone. Music was an integral part of the Sheridan family life. Elementary school years were spent at Kendall Public School. She was the second eldest in her family which included two brothers and four sisters. 7, 1927 in Sparta, Wisconsin, to William and Alice (Senogles) Sheridan, Sister Pat grew up in Kendall, Wisconsin where her father worked for the Sheridan Lumber Company.
